How We Research
Every guide on WarmHunch starts with one question: will this product work for the person who is shopping for it? For our leaf blower guides, that means the size of your yard, the battery you want and how long you plan to run the tool.
Here is how we answer it.
1. We start with the yard and the battery
A small yard with light leaves needs less power than a big lot with wet or packed leaves. The battery matters too, because blowers from the same brand don't always share one.
We check the voltage, battery size and charger the maker lists, and whether the battery comes in the box or is sold separately. When a tool limits your choice, we say which battery fits.
2. We compare specs and features
We look at airflow in CFM, air speed in MPH, weight, runtime, speed settings, nozzles and any vacuum or mulching mode. Makers quote airflow and runtime figures, so we label those as the maker's numbers.
We also note the warranty terms the maker lists. When a detail comes from the maker, we say so.
3. We look at buyer feedback
We read through what buyers report after using a leaf blower. We look for patterns, like batteries that run down fast, switches that fail, cracked housings, loose tubes or loud motors.
One angry review doesn't sink a product. A pattern does.
4. We score each product
Our score weighs specs, features and buyer feedback against what you're shopping for. A product that's great for one buyer may score lower in a guide written for another.
Scores spread out on purpose. A 10 is rare.
5. We keep pages up to date
Products change, and some disappear from stores. EGO, Greenworks and DeWalt each sell many blowers with similar model codes and different voltages, so we check each model name, code and battery before we write about it.
When we update a guide, the "Updated on" date at the top changes with it.
What our picks are not
Our picks are research, not lab tests. We don't claim to have cleared a yard with every blower we cover.
Our guides don't replace the maker's manual. For eye and ear protection, battery care and charging, follow the maker's directions.
We give no safety clearance for any tool or battery, and we quote noise only as the maker states it. When a maker makes a claim, we label it as the maker's claim.
